8620

Alloy 8620 is a hardenable chromium, molybdenum, nickel, low alloy carburizing steel developed for case-hardening. Through case-hardening it develops good wear characteristics. It has good forming qualities and may be welded using conventional welding methods. 8620 can be machines before carburizing and only finish machining after heat treatment of carburizing, usually limited to grinding. It has a tensile strength of 97,000PSI and yield strength of 57,000 PSI with elongation of 25%.  8620 also has good fatigue resistance. It is commonly used for carburized gears, pinions, shafts, bearings, piston rings, ring gears, crankshafts, ect.

17-4PH

17-4PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel with Cu and Nb/Cb additions, also known as Type 630. It is chromium-copper stainless steel used for application where high strength and a moderate lever of corrosion resistance are required. This steel maintains its strength and corrosion properties in temperatures up to 800⁰F. The corrosion resistance is better than standard hardenable stainless steels and is comparable to stainless steel type 304 or 430. It has excellent mechanical properties, good toughness and the mechanical properties can be optimized with heat treatment. 

17-4 is readily weldable by all the commercial processes and preheating ad post hearing practices are not required. This material forges easily. It has a tensile strength of 150,000 PSI, yield strength of 110,000 PSI and Elongation of 10% in 2”.  Due to the versatile properties of the this steel it is used widely in the aerospace, chemical, nuclear, food processing and paper industries in many different applications like turbine blades, helicopter decks platforms and foils.

ETD 150

Elevated Temperature Drawn 150 or ETD 150 is a modified 4100 H steel made by Niagara LaSalle. It is developed by drawing the material while at an elevated temperature. The results from the process develop a high tensile strength and high yield strength with improved machinability. Other benefits to this steel are decreased residual stresses from cold working, hazards of quenching and tempering are gone, and the material has uniform properties from surface to center. It has Tensile Strength of 150,000 psi, Yield Strength of 130,000 psi a 10% elongation in 2”. This steel is commonly used for pinions, shafts, gears, axles, etc.

StressProof

STRESSPROOF is a specialty steel produced by Naigara Lasalle in which a bar is drawn through a die under heavy draft and then stress relieved in a precisely controlled furnace. STRESSPROOF quality exceeds the normal industry standard of ASTM A311 with the controlled low stresses, reliable machining and improved surface quality. The whole mystique behind STRESSPROOF is simply that it provides longer part life with less manufacturing costs.


STRESSPROOF was designed to meet, in one bar, the need for greater strength, elimination of heat treatment, better machinability and improved fatigue and wear resistance. It has a tensile strength of 115,000 psi, yield strength of 100,000 psi and an elongation of 8% minimum (7% above 2”). It is used in many applications including: Arbors, keyed shafts, spindles, gears, pinions, piston rods, sleeves, lead screws, racks, motor shafts, link pins, mandrels, boring bars, collets, bushings, drive shafts, armature shafts, rotary pump shafts, gusher pump shafts, king pins, oil and water pump shafts, wrist pins.
